Join us for networking and our guest speaker, Niranjan S. Kulkarni, Ph.D., as he presents "Simulations Application in Biopharmaceuticals".

Dr. Kulkarni will discuss why it is better to perform simulations rather than experimenting on the real system. Simulation models can be used to depict actual system dynamics that includes time, events and the changes that occur over time. They further have the ability to model variability and stochastic events, and perform what-if analyses. This session demonstrates how process simulations can be used to address bottlenecks in both production and support functions, evaluate capacities, improve designs/layout and develope strategies within the biopharmaceutical domain.

Niranjan S. Kulkarni, Ph.D., is the Director, Operations Improvement with CRB. He holds a Ph.D. and Masters degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Niranjan has over 15 years of experience in business process and data modeling, operations and process simulations, process improvements, layout optimizations and supply chain management. He has worked with pharmaceuticals, biotech, food, chemicals, semiconductor, electronics assembly and packaging, heavy machinery manufacturing and finance industries.

Dr. Kulkarni is the co-chair of ISPE's Operations Management Community of Practice and is an active speaker and contributor to academic research societies including, IEEE, IISE and INFORMS. He has also served as the Track Director for the End-to-End Supply Chain Management Track at two ISPE Annual Meetings, and will serve as the Education Committee co-chair for the 2018 ISPE Annual Meeting. He is the elected Regional Vice President of IISE South Central Chapter.

Niranjan has authored over 25 peer reviewed technical papers published in research journals, conference proceedings and industry periodicals. He is the co-author of the ISPE's Operations Management Guidance Document and has co-authored a book chapter in the prestigious LNCS series. Dr. Kulkarni is also on the Editorial Review Board of the International Marketing and Management Research Journal.
