Diversity: Building Positive, Productive Relationships at Work

If you were asked about diversity in your workplace, you might respond by thinking about groups of employees based on their culture, gender, race or even age.  But, that doesn’t tell the whole story.  We all come to the workplace with different experiences and backgrounds.  This awareness paints a broader perspective of diversity.  Using this filter, you might now expand your answer to include other differences such as educational background, parental status, or even geographic location.

In its simplest form, diversity impacts both how people view themselves as well as how they perceive others.  Those perceptions affect their interactions and in turn can impact organizational performance, motivation and success.

Join us for this complimentary webinar to discover how diversity impacts the workplace and ways you can start to build positive, productive relationships at work.

 By attending this session, you’ll:

  • Define the importance of diversity in the workplace.
  • Learn how to move your organization toward valuing diversity.
  • Understand the importance of creating cultural competence within your team.
  • Identify resources available to help your team appreciate and value diversity.

 About our Presenter:

William Green is the Diversity Relations Associate at Moraine Park Technical College and has served in that capacity for 10 years, his primary role involves working with internal and external Moraine Park communities to develop a comprehensive model of services and activities supporting students of color.   These services include outreach, recruitment, enrollment, retention, and transition services. His work at Moraine Park could well become the model for transforming the status quo in higher education, and more specifically increasing minority/disadvantaged student recruitment and retention efforts within the technical college environment.
