Community Solar: Providing Benefit

Beyond Your Bottom Line

DSV will be hosting this seminar featuring Allyson Mitchell, President of Sustainable Catalyst Partners (SCP). She will be discussing her experience as project manager for the Solar Uniting Neighbors (SUN) project, a financial incentive program for small scale community projects, which was administered in partnership with the Indiana Association for Community Economic Development (IACED). These solar projects can improve the bottom line of a small business or community organization by lowering utility bills and influencing investments in energy efficiency. But small scale solar projects can also have a positive impact by providing benefits to the surrounding community. Come learn how creative partnerships, leadership, and applying best practices can result in solar projects with benefits that go well beyond the bottom line. Allyson's presentation on the SUN project will include the following:

  • Who the partners were and how the SUN project was developed
  • The projects that were awarded grants and are currently being constructed
  • Why solar works for small businesses and community organizations
  • The potential for continuation of the program, and
  • How you can be involved
