Annuities 101: Understanding the Basics of Annuity Contracts
Speaker: Renée Snow, Ph.D., CFP®, EA, Principal of ASL Financial, LLC
Meeting Description
Student Forum Meetings are intended for those students at UCSC-Extension who are enrolled in the Personal Financial Planning Program and for members of the Financial Planning Association (any chapter). These meetings are not open to the public.
Join us for an educational and interesting look at Annuity Contracts. Dr. Snow will discuss the basics of the various types of annuities: immediate, deferred, fixed, variable and indexed. For each, Dr. Snow will discuss the unique characteristics, benefits, drawbacks and special considerations. With this basic grounding, she will then review a few possible client scenarios where an annuity product might be suitable for meeting income needs in retirement. If there is time available, the group can discuss specific client scenarios.
