Overview:

Understand the various ways you might finance your business and how to approach friends and family, angel investors, banks and venture capitalists. Learn to prepare the documents you will need to submit for each. A guest banker will present criteria banks use to determine credit worthiness and a representative from the SBA will discuss the SBA loan guarantee program.

 Speakers:

 

Larry Pelka of Chicago, IL has been a SCORE member since 2001 and is currently the Assistant District Director of SCORE in Illinois. He was previously the Chicago SCORE Chapter Chair. Pelka was CEO of Associates Commercial Corp., a world wide commercial lessor and lender with over 12 divisions. Prior to his 22 years with ACC, Larry was the central region manager for General Electric Capital.

Julie Regenold is the founder and CEO of TradeGate Finance, Inc., a factoring company which provides alternative financing to small businesses that find traditional sources of financing are unavailable to them. Being a small business owner, Julie has seen first-hand the issues and challenges new business owners encounter on a daily basis, which is is why TradeGate Finance is focused on providing factoring services to the smaller small business.   

Bob Esquivel, Chief of Lender Relations, has been with the SBA since 1988. Mr. Esquivel directs and coordinates Lender Relations Specialist in evaluating Lender services and promoting the District financing programs, including 7(a) general business loans, 504 loans, Export revolving lines of credit and all other loan programs implemented by the Agency. Prior to working for the SBA, he was a Vice President of local community bank in Chicago, where he had worked for fourteen (14) years.

Nic Baria

Nicolas joined Accion Chicago in 2010 after receiving his MA in economics from Roosevelt University, where he concentrated in macroeconomic policy and community development. While there, he was also a research associate in the Department of Economics where he assisted in the studies of issues in the Latino labor market in Chicago.  Outside of Accion, Nicolas helps his spouse manage her own art design business.
