Austin Weirich Memorial 5K

Join us at Fidler Pond on Saturday, September 10 for the second annual “Austin Weirich 5K. This year we are adding a community vendor fair so community members can better understand the resources they have available to them.

This annual 5K is to honor the life of Austin Weirich. Austin died by suicide in 2016, but his legacy for fun, sports, and family lives on. Funds raised will support the Austin Weirich Memorial Scholarship Fund at 1st Source Bank and local school suicide prevention programs.

Shortly after Austin’s death, the Weirich family decided to establish a memorial scholarship fund at his high school. Austin placed a high value on education and we knew it was important to help other young people achieve that same dream. And, Leslie Weirich, Austin’s mom is actively putting suicide prevention programs in local schools.

Over the past four years, we have given away over $20,000 in college scholarships to students from Austin’s high school, Goshen High School.

Vendors are asked to arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 7:50 a.m., and be set-up by 8:30 am. The 5k begins at 9 a.m. The event will conclude at Noon.

Last year we had just over 100 people and this year we expect an even bigger turn out!
