PFC Foundational Training - Introduction to Children's Mental Health

This training will provide a basic introduction to children's mental health and will include the following learning objectives: (1) Identify the prevalence of common mental health disorders in children, (2) Understand the role of trauma in children's mental health, (3) Understand how mental health affects emotions and behaviors in children, (4) Identify at least 3 practical tools to use as early intervention strategies, (5) Learn the PFC referral process.

 Krystal Kalb-Weldy, LMHC, RPT-S, is a licensed mental health clinician and registered play therapist supervisor with over 12 years’ experience working in a variety of settings including non-profit homeless and domestic violence shelters and private practice. Krystal has worked primarily with children who have experienced trauma leading to a focus of using trauma-informed and play therapy approaches to help children and families heal and grow. Krystal is currently the Training Specialist for PFC/The SOURCE Oaklawn.

 Becky Loth, LMHC, is the Partnership for Children team leader. Becky is a licensed mental health clinician with over 15 years’ experience working with children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Becky moved into the field of social services after 17 years in the human resources field because of a passion for more directly serving the needs of vulnerable children.
