The New Jersey Association for Gifted Children (NJAGC) invites you to join a “Hands-On” meeting to discuss  - and create - Student Growth Objectives (SGOs) for Gifted & Talented Programs. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the Hickory Corner Library, 138 Hickory Corner Road, in East Windsor, N.J., from 6:00-8:30 P.M.

The goals of the meeting are:

• To hear the latest information about SGOs from Carl Blachard, Policy Manager, Office of Evaluation/Achieve NJ. Since joining the NJDOE in 2012, Carl has helped develop and roll out the state’s educator support and evaluation system, AchieveNJ. Among his responsibilities are working with the state’s evaluation advisory committees and developing guidance and support materials for the implementation of student growth objectives.
• To ask Mr. Blanchard specific questions about SGOs and related topics
• To feel supported in the SGO creation process
• To network with fellow G&T educators across the state
• To work together to create G&T SGO Exemplars that will be posted on NJDOE and NJAGC websites

Meeting Schedule:

6:00-7:00 - Carl Blanchard will present important information about SGOs.

7:00-7:30 - Questions and Answers

7:30-8:30 - Working together to create exemplars for you to bring back to your district and/or post on our website. (We are asking educators to bring their G&T SGOs to be used as a jumping off point.)

 Light refreshments will be served.

There is no charge for this event but advance registration is requested.
