LWVCT Advocacy Workshop:
Educate + Advocate + Impact*
Tuesday, January 8, 2019 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM
All LWV members are invited to attend this informative event.
For many years, the League has had the benefit of working with Judy Blei and Associates. In their legislative monitoring role for the League, they provide a special password-protected, interactive website for each specialist and a listing of all the bills for the specialist that relate to her or his area of specialty. In this workshop, Judy Blei and her team have invited a variety of speakers to help us gain new insights into the legislative process and understand how we can be most effective in the coming legislative session.
Confirmed speakers (as of 12/12/2018) include:
Shannon Kief, Legal Program Director of the State Election Enforcement Commission
Senator Mae Flexer, Co-Chair of the Government Administration & Elections (GAE) Committee in session ending in May 2018
Susan Keane, Appropriations Committee Administrator
Rep. Gregg Haddad, Appropriations Committee Member, GAE Member
Pua Ford, current Secretary of LWVCT and Specialist on Open Government - Media issues
Cheri Quickmire, Director of CT Common Cause
The workshop is free, but seating is limited to 30 participants.
Staff from LWVCT's Capitol Information and Tours will be available to give a tour of the Capitol after the workshop.
In case of inclement weather. Check the LWVCT website at lwvct.org to see if the workshop has been canceled.
Also, all LWV members are invited to sign up to receive an e-digest of the legislation that has been introduced relating to their issues of interest. You will be able to use the information, bill numbers, etc., to easily manage your own advocacy campaign through the information and the communication systems provided on the CGA website: www.cga.ct.gov. Email the LWVCT office at lwvct@lwvct.orgif you would like to receive the legislative e-digest.
