One in Five Minds Presents:
A Conversation with Liza Long

Liza Long
Please plan to join us on Monday, October 14 in the Whitley Center at the Oblate School of Theology for One in Five Minds Presents: A Conversation with Liza Long.

This event is presented by Clarity Child Guidance Center, sponsor of the One in Five Minds advocacy campaign, and the Oblate School of Theology.

Liza is an author from Boise, Idaho, and the mother of four exceptional children (three boys and one girl), one of whom has a mental illness. Following the Newtown shootings in December 2012, Liza wrote the blog post, "I Am Adam Lanza's Mother': A Mom's Perspective On The Mental Illness Conversation in America.

Her essay went viral and created a national conversation about children's mental health. It also put Liza in a spotlight and exposed her to a backlash of criticism, as well as support.

As a result of the reaction created by the essay, Liza was interviewed on CNN, PBS, NPR and the Today Show. She also authored an article in USA Today discussing her original post.

Liza earned her B.A. from Brigham Young University and her M.A. from UCLA, both in Classics ("a little Latin, and more Greek"). Liza blogs at www.anarchistsoccermom.blogspot.com

During this special conversation with Liza, you'll have a chance to hear firsthand about her experiences with her child, life after the blog post, and her thoughts on children's mental health in America. It will be a moderated discussion with an opportunity for questions from the audience.

Please bring a friend to what promises to be an informative evening.
