The MBTA Educational Foundation is a tax-exempt, non-profit charitable organization that awards scholarships annually to deserving Maine students who we hope will become future leaders in the transportation community. 

MBTA began offering scholarships in the 1980s through a Scholarship Fund. In 2000, the association formed the Educational Foundation as a separate organization in order to grow and better manage the fund and provide an opportunity for members and friends to make charitable contributions to the 501(c)3 foundation. Thanks to the generosity of our members, the fund has grown to over $700,000, including named scholarships for Ken Burrill, Tim Folster, Frank Healy and Millard Pray. The Foundation Board is currently planning to raise funds for a scholarship in the name of Paul Koziell, an MBTA Past President and active scholarship fundraiser who died earlier this month in a tragic accident.
