EASTPORT SPOTLIGHT: REVITALIZING A DOWN EAST HUB

EASTPORT AND WASHINGTON COUNTY, MAINE have been undergoing a remarkable transformation in recent years. This month, USA Today ranked the town the 8th Best Small Town in the Northeast.

THE TOWN, AT THE EDGE OF THE BAY OF FUNDY, is the hub for an innovative tidal power project. This winter, a developer announced plans to redevelop a 28,000-square-foot downtown sardine cannery into mixed use commercial and residential space. The city and MaineDOT are wrapping up reconstruction of the Eastport Breakwater, and the Port of Eastport has expanded its services to marine freight clients throughout the world.
