HIGHWAYS + AIRPORTS: SUSTAINING CONNECTIONS

THE DOWNEASTER, THE MAINE TURNPIKE AND PORTLAND JETPORT are three of Maine’s most critical transportation resources. They provide sustaining connections between Maine’s businesses and residents to places and markets throughout the world. NNEPRA’s Patricia Quinn, MTA Executive Director Peter Mills and Portland Jetport Director Paul Bradbury will be our guest speakers at the MBTA’s Cumberland County Meeting. They will talk about the role their organizations play in sustaining Maine’s communities and growing our businesses.

PATRICIA QUINN JOINED THE NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND Passenger Rail Authority (NNEPRA) in 2000, and became its executive director in 2005. Since that time, the Downeaster has added an additional round-trip, expanded service to Freeport and Brunswick, its ridership and revenue have more than doubled and the service has earned one of the highest passenger service ratings in the nation.

PETER MILLS WAS APPOINTED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR of the Maine Turnpike Authority in 2011. After graduating from Harvard University in 1965, he served five years on Navy destroyers during the Vietnam War. Since graduating from the University of Maine School of Law in 1973, he has practiced law in Portland and Skowhegan. Mills served 16 years in the Maine Legislature and has written extensively on tax, education and health policy.

PAUL BRADBURY IS PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL JETPORT airport director. Bradbury has been employed by the city of Portland in several positions at the Jetport since August 1992 and has managed all landside facilities at the Jetport since 1994. He was appointed to his current position of airport director in 2008. In this position, he is responsible for the overall management, operations and planning for the Jetport, which in 2016 served a record 1.78 million passengers.
