Is your child:
Does your child:
If you answered YES to any of these questions, your child may be gifted or twice-exceptional -- and our 90-minute parenting workshop is for YOU!
Twice exceptional (2e) is a child who is simultaneously gifted and has a learning difference. The intensity and asynchronous development of gifted and 2e children can make parenting a particular challenge. Join Summit Center's Melanie Prager and Sharon Duncan as they introduce the characteristics of gifted and 2e children and offer techniques for providing you and your child with the support you need!
Registration is now closed, but space is still available. Tickets available at the door, $20, cash or check.
This workshop provides an excellent introduction to Summit Center's six-week parenting course Enlightened Parenting™ for Gifted & 2e Children, which begins October 15. We also offer Guided Parent Discussion Groups starting October 16.
Melanie Prager, J.D., C.P.E., is Summit Center's parent educator. Melanie co-founded Empowered Parenting in 2004 and has been teaching parenting courses in the LA area ever since. She is dedicated to educating others with the same parenting tools that she and her husband consistently apply -- to make parenting easier, more effective and more enjoyable. Melanie is a certified parent educator trained in Positive Discipline; Redirecting Children's Behavior, Reflective Parenting; and Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG). She is the mother of 3.
Sharon Duncan is Summit Center's SENG Model GroupFacilitator. As the mother of two gifted children, Sharon recognizes the common challenges faced by those raising and working with gifted children. She consults with parents and schools to assist them in understanding the social and emotional needs of this population. Sharon also provides guidance on homeschooling. Sharon has served as president of the School Site Council at a public elementary school, and on the Board of Trustees at a private school. She speaks on the topic of gifted children at schools, districts, and state and national conferences.
