Gifted children are both a joy and a challenge to raise.  Whether gifted or twice exceptional (children who are both gifted and have a learning disability), the innate behaviors and characteristics of giftedness can sometimes be perplexing, or look like areas of concern. The ability to learn rapidly may look like inattentiveness; high intellectual energy may mimic hyperactivity; and a strong need for fairness and justice may look like rigidity or bossiness. Highly sensitive children may be seen as immature or be rejected by peers, while the need for independence may look like defiance or challenging of authority. When recognized as aspects of giftedness these behaviors and traits can be managed in a way that allow children to reach their full social, emotional and academic potential.

You are invited to participate in a guided discussion group to learn about the social and emotional needs of gifted children, and the parenting issues related to those needs.  In a safe, supportive environment, we will discuss topics such as identification, characteristics, communication, family relationships, peer relationships, underachievement, motivation and discipline. Based on the SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of GIfted Children) model (www.sengifted.org).

There is still a few spaces available! Please register before the first class meeting on October 16.

Register Now! $299 for one person. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited, so reserve your spot today.
