Driving Directions: 

Route 80 W to Exit 25 (Stanhope, Newton).  Exit here and proceed for 1/4 mile.  Bear left onto Route 206 North.  At 3rd traffic light, turn right onto Lackawanna Drive (Route 607 South), across from Lockwood Tavern.  Continue for 2 miles (see Lake Lackawanna on your right).  At the stop sign, continue straight but veer to your right a little.  Proceed through a tunnel and continue for 1-1/2 miles.  Come to a flashing red light.  Turn left onto Stanhope Road (Route 605 North).  Continue for appoximately 500 yards.  See a gap in the guardrail; see sign for Hudson Farm.  Turn right into driveway.

TREE FARM DAY FRIDAY JUNE 6th 2014

What an outstanding day planned for you all at Hudson Farm tree farm; a diverse habitat and multi-use 4000+ acre tree farm located in Sussex County!  Some of the activites planned include:

  • visits to restoration projects by NJ Fish & Wildlfe (NJF&W), NJ Audubon, Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), Trout Unlimited & Quality Deear Management (QDMA)
  • talks about forestry for amphibians and vernal ponds
  • discussion of Aldo Leopold's Axe in Hand
  • honoring the 70th anniversary of D-day with WWII vets attending
  • flag raising ceremony at 8:30 am sharp!

Of course we will have our traditional presentation of awards for Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year (OTFY) and the Forest Stewardship Landowner of the Year, Tree ID contest with prizes for winner, raffle of a Stihl product, 50/50 cash raffle, and the "silent auction".  Come share with us in celebrating 68 years of tree farming in New Jersey and congratulating your peers for their outstanding achievements in forestry.

If you have an item to donate to our "silent auction", please contact Greg or Dennis and/or bring it with you.  We encourage you to mark Friday, June 6th on your calendar and come out and see more truly outstanding forestry and, at the same time, support your NJ Tree Farm Program.  Plan to spend the entire day with your fellow tree farmers and forest conservationists having fun and learning new things!
