January 28, 2016 FEI Twin Cities/CEBC Event

Join FEI Twin Cities as they co-sponsor an event with the University of St. Thomas' Center for Ethical Business Cultures, January 28, 2016.  The program, "Winning with Integrity: A Conversation on Sports, Ethics and Leadership"  will begin with registration at 4:00, program at 4:30 and a networking receiption from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Sports exert a powerful influence in American culture. Sports experiences — as children and adults, in schools, colleges, in community leagues — help to shape an individual‘s character, sense of right and wrong, fair or unfair, and performance as a person, team member and leader. Coaches, team mates, competition, personal ambition, and organizational pressures forge and challenge those emerging values.

At every step, individuals and organizations in sports and in business may choose to bend the rules and spirit of the “game” or to play, and perhaps win, with integrity. Building commitment to ethical conduct in sports and business requires building a culture that aligns individuals and organizations around core values. Doing so demands leaders who are attuned to broader societal issues and values that influence their organizations and teams.

How do experiences in sports influence character, values and ethics? What dynamics support, reinforce or threaten ethical conduct? In sports and business do we value winning at all costs? How can leaders play an active role in strengthening and honoring ethical culture? And, how can leaders better anticipate and minimize the risk of individual and organizational misconduct that can erode commitment to values?

Panelists Speakers include:

Chris Wright, President, Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx
