TOPIC: "A Fresh Look at Charitable Lead Trusts"
Speaker: Brian Whitlock, CPA, JD, LLM, Tax Partner, Plante Moran

Low Interest Rates and recent changes in the income tax laws have created some interesting opportunities using Charitable Lead Trusts. Learn about how to structure Lead Trusts to pass assets to family members, lower federal and state income taxes, and benefit charity all at the same time. You will be surprised by potential benefits in this often overlooked tool.

H. Cameron Hinds

Brian Whitlock:  A partner with Plante Moran, Brian applies his legal and tax expertise to the asset-protection and tax-minimization needs of families, closely-held businesses, philanthropic individuals, and not-for-profit organizations. A faculty member at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Brian brings an educator’s mindset and down-to-earth style to his client engagements. He uses these skills to clarify complex tax and wealth-transfer concepts and offer tactical next steps. Numerous CPA, bar, financial planning, and other trade associations invite Brian to speak on income, estate, and not-for-profit tax issues. He has a B.A. from Northwestern University, a JD from IIT/Chicago–Kent College of Law, and an LLM in Taxation from IIT/Chicago-Kent.

Gregory Jordan is a Senior Vice President and National Philanthropic Investment Officer. He is the thought leader for philanthropic investment management across Wells Fargo and partners with the investment thought leadership and fiduciary leaders in the development of investment strategies and solutions for charitable and nonprofit clients.

Mr. Jordan has more than 22 years of experience in the financial services industry with an emphasis on investment and portfolio management for institutions and high-net-worth clients. Previously, he served as a Regional Investment Manager for The Private Bank in Chicago, IL and Jacksonville, FL.

Mr. Jordan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Wayne StateUniversity. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the CFA Institute and the Investment Analyst Society of Chicago.

Mr. Jordan works closely with regional wealth partners and their philanthropic clients and prospects to communicate and foster our philanthropic investment philosophy and approach.
