Come and join us for the 28th annual Ellie Bloom Special Olympics on Saturday, October 1st at 10 am at DeFazio Park in Needham!
This fun and inspiring event welcomes athletes of all ages and abilities to participate in track and field events such as running and wheelchair dashes, basketball throws, relay races, and ladderball. Every event is modified so that all who attempt to participate will be successful.
Athletes will receive a medal for their achievement and lunch will be provided after the Olympics. Over 150 athletes have participated in previous years.
This event is named after Ellie Bloom, a long-time supporter of the Charles River Center. “Ellie Bloom was a former staff member who was also the parent of a child with developmental disabilities,” said John Grugan, President of the Charles River Center. “She was a champion of parents, with a real wealth of knowledge.”
The event is free and pre-registration is strongly encouraged. For questions or to volunteer, please contact Kelly Atkins at (781) 972-1060 or katkins@charlesrivercenter.org.
