TITLE:  Using Real-World Problems for Math Classrooms – Grades 6-12

Robert Kaplinsky, a nationally recognized math instructor from UCLA,  will present multiple real-world problem-based lessons including pedagogically modeling how teachers should implement the same lessons in their own classroom. He will connect these lessons to the Common Core State Standards with emphasis on the Standards for Mathematical Practice.  Robert will show teachers how to help students think more mathematically and be more motivated to persevere through difficult mathematical problems including those at higher depth of knowledge levels.  Teachers will walk away equipped with hundreds of free real problems they can use in their class the next day.
