Integrating Engineering into the K-8 Curriculum – Grades K-8 (July 2015) |
July 31, 2015 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Registration Fee: $45 Registration Deadline: 7/20/15
The Engineering Place from NCSU will provide a workshop for K-8 teachers on integrating engineering in K-8. The excitement of engineering provides an ideal platform for integrated and problem or challenge-based learning. During the workshop, attendees will participate in hands-on activities that can be used in the classroom and are directly tied to the Standard Course of Study in math, science, language arts and social studies. Many of the activities will also have ties to art, music, PE and technology. Participants will receive complete lesson plans that will enable them to execute the activities in their own classrooms with no modification, if they desire. We will show participants how engineering can increase the achievement of ALL students, with a particular advantage for kids who have not traditionally succeeded in the classroom. The workshop is fun, interactive and inspiring, according to previous participants! Your instructors will be from NCSU’s The Engineering Place.
