Sunshine & Storm: Using Fictional Text to Promote Science Literacy – Grades K-2 (September 2014)

Be ready to fall in love with Sunshine and Storm, the pictorially delightful characters of this funny and touching story of friendship, as you delve into the study of weather and living things. Session participants will engage in science activities that will promote student understanding in the study of weather as well as in the study of living things. The workshop will also provide activities for promoting reading comprehension and vocabulary skills. The final component of the workshop will address the delicate nature of friendship and the concept of bullying at its most basic level. A copy of Sunshine & Storm will be provided to all participants.
