Time: 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Fee: $0
LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED!
This one-day workshop will engage participants in tasks that address the practice standards and content standards of Math 1. Participants will also be introduced to a framework for adapting a "traditional" mathematics task into a new task that requires a higher level of cognitive demand than the original. Participants will experience several tasks that will be ready to utilize in a Math 1 classroom, as well as resources (hardcopy and web-based) also appropriate for Math 1.
(Note: This workshop has been developed with the same underlying principles as the recent Navigating the Seven C's - Math 1 PD offered via NCDPI and Meredith Math Institutes, but the materials and tasks in this workshop are not the same.) The text provided will be NCSM Great Tasks for Mathematics (6-12). The session will be offered twice to accomodate more people. Feb. 20 from 9:00-3:30 and the repeat session Feb. 27 from 9:00 until 3:30.
Fee: none and lunch will be provided.
