Find yourself in a riveting journey to the center of the earth as we experience our planet with that famous explorer, Ms. Frizzle. Using this nonfiction piece, participants will explore the use of nonfiction narrative as the focal point in delivering an interdisciplinary unit; a unit designed to promote literature and science as well as the wonders of planet Earth. Participants will explore rocks and minerals, the interior of the earth and so much more through the use of hands-on, inquiry based activities. The workshop will include the use of Vernier Labquests and sensory probes to explore the impact of earthquakes and weather upon the formation of the earth. The workshop will also provide activities for promoting reading comprehension and vocabulary skills. This exploration in interdisciplinary studies is based on 4th grade curriculum.
