Rubrics can help teachers teach and students learn. Come gain understanding and practice in how to create and use rubrics to enhance classroom instruction and make your teaching life easier. This interactive training will be based on the book How to Create and Use Rubrics for Formative Assessment and Grading, by Susan Brookhart. Participants will gain an understanding of the differences among rubrics, checklists, and task sheets, learn how to identify quality rubrics, and leave with multiple sources for already developed rubrics. Finally, participants will develop their own rubrics related to their specific content area.  This session is open to all K-12 teachers in any subject area. Presenters will be Dr. April Spencer, Secondary/Professional Development Coordinator and Dr. Karen Sumner, Elementary/Professional Development Coordinator .  If you have questions, contact April (828.418.0011, ext. 20/aspecner@wresa.org) or Karen (ext. 26/ksumner@wresa.org.)
