BOILER BASICS: HYDRONICS 101

Keith O'Toole of Weil-McLain conducts this class that addresses a wide array of boiler topics.  The course will lay a foundational knowledge of the general application of boilers and system design including: heat loss calculation, boiler piping systems, circulator applications and sizing, venting systems, system safety devices, boiler and system controls.  We will also take a cursory look at how to design and install boiler and hydronic systems that function properly and operate in a safe and efficiency manor. 

Class Outline:

  • Heat-load calculation based on industry principals and calculation methods.  
  • Application system circulators with emphasis on proper sizing and selection.  
  • How to pipe systems including layout and sizing of systems. 
  • Ancillary equipment and system components. 
  • Proper application of expansion components for safety and the boiler life cycle. 
  • System pressure and ancillary pressure with emphasis on safety, proper system function and efficient delivery of energy.
  • Air elimination and management.   
  • Code requirements and industry best practices. 

Continuing Education Credits:

Due to the short lead time in scheduling and presenting this class, there are NO CEU's available at this time.

Although there is no charge for this class, reservations are required, and may be limited at Winstel Controls’ discretion. Class limited to only 20 people.
