We invite you to lay back on yoga mats and pillows and go inward for THE SOUND SOAK! In its 5th year of monthly sound healing gatherings in Manhattan, the Sound Soak NYC is a community gathering that is part sound bath, part concert, and part participatory vocal workshop. Donning eye-masks that shut out the light, embark on an inner journey guided by live acoustic music and vibration. Soak in the sounds as they surround you and allow the healing frequencies to transport you into the imaginal realms, then allow yourself to be guided through participatory vocal sounding and activation.

Joule L'Adara and guests will lead you through a beutiful sonic ritual to celebrate the darkest days of the year and a return to the days of light! In this Sound Soak you will be treated to a "Monochord Orchestra", the etherial vocals of 5 vocalists, and the masterful soundscapes of multi-instrumentalist Kara Allen including Gong, Hand pan, Kotamo, Shakuhachi Flute and Indian Bansuri. Usually taking place on a Saturday night, this is the first Sound Soak to take place on a Monday.

At this event, we will also be celebrating the life of our sister and fellow sound practitioner Rakel Jun, who passed away from Cancer this past week at the age of 40. Rakel was a presenter at the Sound Soak and was a graduate of the Open Center's Sound and Music Institute Practitioner Training Program. She is the author of a children's book, "I'm Always OK: Meditation, Yoga, and Other Wellness Tools for Children" which is available in Spanish, English and soon many other languages. Rakel was a great light in this world and we will sound in honor of her. A personal gathering just for friends of Rakel will take place on the 3rd floor of the Open Center in Room 3A at 7:00 pm. All guests are then invited to come down to join the Sound Soak on the 2nd floor at 8:00 pm.
