Eldercaring Coordination Training

This training focuses on the skills required to be an eldercaring coordinator, a conflict resolution specialist in the area of eldercare. The training will build on family and elder mediation foundations to explain how the eldercaring coordinator uses mediation, problem-solving skills, education, community resources, and the limited authority granted by the court to address aggravated situations, frequently in the context of family disputes. The training will address the effects of high conflict, litigious, and vindictive behaviors on the elder as well as family members and other stakeholders, and how to manage these behaviors within the family unit. It will also cover exploitation, neglect and abuse of elders, domestic violence, substance abuse, as well as cognition issues in the elderly.

Prerequisites: This training requires completion of:

  • Family/Divorce Mediation training (including basic mediation skills)
  • Elder Mediation training

In order to be eligible to take this training, participants must also complete and send an Application to be an Eldercaring Coordinator to Linda Fieldstone (lindafieldstone@outlook.com) no later than Tuesday, January 29, 2019.

The cost for the training is $800 and is due by check payment to OC Human Relations by January 29, 2019. The payment is non-refundable for any reason except if the person's application to be an Eldercaring Coordiantor is not accepted. In  this event, the full amount of the training fee wii be refunded.
