The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and NRRC is proud to sponsor a 3 day Basic WIDA Trainer Training (9-3 each day) . The purpose of this training is to familiarize school and district staff with the new WIDA English Language Development Standards.
This Basic WIDA ToTs will explore the following components of the WIDA framework:
In addition, the training will include designing professional development about the WIDA standards for district and school staff.
Participants in the WIDA ToT will be equipped to develop professional development for additional district and school staff. Therefore, we recommend that districts register curriculum leaders - English Language Learner Program Coordinator/Supervisor, a District Curriculum Supervisor, an ESL Lead Teacher - or equivalent district staff who is regularly in charge of coordinating professional development for the district. Please note that this training is for curriculum leaders who have not been through this training before and need an introductory WIDA course.
