Dear Educator:

On Friday, December 5, 2014, the Towson University Dance Company (TUDC) is pleased to present a Special School Matinee performance for students grades K-12.  Last year, over 900 people attended this free event, and the numbers are continually growing.  To support the community’s demand, Towson University offers 2, back-to-back school matinees!    

Full of gusto and charm, the fall 2014 matinee highlights American music icons of the 20th Century through the captivating talent of TUDC. Choreographed by Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell, Vincent E. Thomas, and Runqiao Du, “Legends” features a collection of music by Nina Simon, Etta James, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson as well as other great artists.  And that’s not all!  The matinee opens with a newly commissioned work by DC’s award winning choreographer, Christopher K. Morgan.

The total performance time is no longer than one hour and takes place at Stephens Hall Theater, located on the east side of campus in the 7900 block of York Road.  Admission is FREE!  Groups wishing to eat on campus should contact University Dining Services to inquire about access to a Newell Dining seating area.

Groups must provide their own transportation.  Metered lots are available for cars and vans.  (Please use the pay and display visitor parking on the first floor of Glen Garage or in lot 24). Bus parking is not available, but busses may unload students at the theater entrance, where university greeters are present. Please note that there are NO make-up days in the event of bad weather.

Please share this information with fellow educators as reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Reservations are due on Friday, Nov 7th.  Reservations must be made online through the following website: http://www.towson.edu/dance/dancecompany.asp. After receiving your reservation form, we send you a confirmation email.  One week prior to the concert, you receive an Education Packet, including a program and valuable dance literature, to help prepare your students for their dance experience at Towson University.
