Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy with
EFT Trainer George Faller

The Porter Cason Institute for the Family at the Tulane University School of Social Work is pleased to provide an Outreach Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy with EFT Trainer George Faller. The event will be held on Tuesday, January 20 through Friday, January 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day in New Orleans. Through a safe and nurturing experience, this workshop will enhance your therapy skills, while helping improve your compassion for your self and others in your life, as well as your clients.

This training is grant-subsidized and is provided to clinicians in not-for-profit, veteran/government agencies, and others serving disadvantaged populations. During this four-day Externship, participants will learn through a combination of lectures, videotapes and role play exercises. There also will be a number of co-trainers from the East Coast who will assist Faller in facilitating your hands-on skill development through role plays. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the basic stages and steps of Emotionally Focused Therapy;
  • See marital distress from an attachment perspective;
  • Help couples recognize and deescalate problematic patterns of interaction;
  • Help couples understand the underlying attachment needs that drive these negative patterns;
  • Help couples create and restore the emotional bond between them; and
  • Help couples repair attachment injuries, fostering healing within and between the couple
