The Tulane School of Social Work and Porter-Cason Institute are proud to present a 3-hour CEU entitled "Asperger's/Autism Spectrum Disorder Workshop" on Friday, Oct. 17 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Tulane School of Social Work on the third floor in Room 343. This seminar will provide clinicians with up to date information regarding the characteristics of Asperger’s/Autism Spectrum Disorder.  The definitions/diagnostic criteria of both the DSMIV-TR and DSM5 will be discussed.  Participants will gain insight for working with parents to help them become more informed advocates for their children in the school system by learning helpful classroom interventions. The learning objectives for this course are:

  • The attendee will be able to define/describe Asperger’s/Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • The attendee will be able to identify school interventions, information and resources for parents.
  • The attendee will have a framework for establishing an effective Social Skills Group for children and adolescents with social skills deficits.
