Human Trafficking and Sexual Trauma

The Tulane School of Social Work is proud to offer at 6-hour CEU workshop entitled "Human Trafficking and Sexual Trauma" by Dr. Helen Greece and Dr. Laura Murphy, Director of the Modern Slavery Research Project. The workshop will be held on Monday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Stibbs Conference Room on the second floor of Tulane's Lavin-Bernick Student Center. Sign-in will begin at 8:30 a.m.

This six-hour workshop will include clinical interventtion for sexual trauma. Dr. Murphy will present Part I, giving a macro overview of Sex Trafficking while Dr. Greece will present Part II, Clinical Understanding and Treatment Options.

This workshop will provide: 

  • An overview of facts regarding this population on a global and local level.
  • Defining and identifying this population.
  • Specific challenges faced by the clinician (such as the intersection with law enforcement and the judicial system, possible ignorance on the part of clients/victims as to their rights, gaps in knowledge on the part of mental health and health care professionals and possible dangers for the client in seeking treatment.
  • Meeting the client where they are (ie learning to speak the language and other cultural competencies)
  • Diagnosis (the likely intersection of PTSD and substance abuse).
  • Specific interventions and treatment modalities which may be effective with this population

Registration Information and Fees
The registration fee is $135. Payments can be made via check or money order (payable to Tulane School of Social Work) and must be mailed to the address below shortly after completing the online registration form:

CANCELLATION POLICY -- In the event you find you cannot come to our program, it is important for you to notify us before the program begins, either by email (preferred) at blrl@tulane.edu or via phone at 504-865-5314.  We will refund the registration fee if notified before event begins, after event begins there are no refunds.  

Parking Information 
On weekdays, parking on Tulane's campus is available via parking permit only.
