Spiral Dynamics Level 1
Certification Training

Tulane School of Social Work, Facilitative Leadership Institute-NOLA, and Central City Renaissance Alliance invite you to a three-day Spiral Dynamics Level 1 Certification Training on April 29 – May 1, 2014 at the Central City Renaissance Alliance, 1631 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd in New Orleans. The registration fee is $150. CEUs will be offered for a separate $20 fee.

Spiral Dynamics is a powerful framework for understanding the evolution of human value systems, and has been used to increase understanding of how things work in many domains, including leadership, organizational development, personal development, and coaching. Spiral Dynamics has also been successfully used around the world to help communities to understand and address more effectively the challenging and complex issues in education, developmental gaps, problems associated with poverty, race, health care, and many others.

This Level 1 Spiral Dynamics Certification Training is designed to further empower citizens and leaders to effect positive transformation in New Orleans by:

  • Teaching the theory and practice of Spiral Dynamics within the context of the social and cultural strengths and systemic challenges facing New Orleans, using music and movie clips mixed with lively discussions; and
  • Developing a network of individuals and organizations who can use Spiral Dynamics to work individually and collectively on initiatives to help New Orleans become a leader in the 100 most resilient cities in the world.

Participants will:

  • Learn about Spiral Dynamics in theory and practice in ways that will help them to effect positive change in their own respective domains of interest and work;
  • Develop new understandings of their own (and others’) values, leadership styles, and communication styles;
  • Learn new ways to understand and solve problems -- including systems analysis, decision making strategies, and using methodologies that aim to help New Orleans become more resilient;
  • Attain Level 1 Spiral Dynamics Certification, which gives direct access to the global network of Spiral Dynamics certification graduates;
  • Gain 15.75 – 17 CEU hours for social workers ($20 additional fee through Tulane University).

To register, please fill out the register form or call 504-913-7828. As of April 24, only half of the registration fee will be refunded for any cancellations.

About the Presenters
Don E. Beck, Ph.D. is an innovator and consultant who created Spiral Dynamics and used it to help Nelson Mandela move towards an inclusive rainbow nation in South Africa. He has also worked with the New Orleans Saints. He is the Founder of the Global Center for Human Emergence and the National Values Center-Texas. Spiral Dynamics is based on the work of Clare W. Graves, and provides a framework for integrating, aligning, and synergizing resources to meet the needs of people at different stages of development. Dr. Beck uses multimedia to illustrate the value systems that cut across the human spectrum using a very rich and comprehensive approach tohuman development. He teaches the model both on a personal level as well as for large scale systems change. He is co-author of The Crucible: Forging South Africa's Future (In Search of a Template for the World) (1991) and Spiral Dynamics: Mastering Values, Leadership & Change (1996).
