About the Event
The First 5 Association of California invites you to join First 5 Commissions from across the state for our 2017 Capitol Advocacy Day. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with legislators and local commissioners, and network with fellow First 5 leadership as we work together to further understanding about who First 5 is and what we do in the face of declining revenue.
January 30th: Pre Advocacy Early Arrival Social and Kick Off
If you are in the vicinity, or if you plan on arriving in Sacramento the evening before our Advocacy Day, please accept our invitation to join us for our Early Arrival Social where we will celebrate together, hear from key leadership from across the state and prepare for our 2017 Advocacy Day. January 31st: Advocacy Day
Advocacy Day will begin with breakfast during which we will brief attendees on the day's agenda and meeting goals. A networking lunch will provide attendees an opportunity to connect with First 5 leadership from across the State. Throughout the day attendees will visit legislators and their staff, sharing information and education about First 5 in the face of declining revenues.

First 5 Commissioners, Executive Directors and staff are all encouraged to attend!

Legislative Visits
Legislative visits will be schedulued betweeen 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm.
The Association is happy to schedule legislative visits on behalf of all registrants. If you would prefer to schedule yourself simply indicate this on the registration page and you will receive more details via email.
Event Materials
The Association will be providing attendees with all advocacy day materials, including a "leave behind" folder that you can leave with your elected official and/or staff during your visit. The folder will also allow space for locally developed materials.
Webinar: Pre-Advocacy Day Briefing & Training
The Association will be hosting a pre-advocacy day webinar to review Advocacy Day goals, key talking points and strategies for effective legislative visits and drop-ins. The webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18 at 10am. A webinar recording and materials will be posted on the intranet for those who are not able to attend.

Registration Advocacy Day registration is $45 per person and includes breakfast, lunch, materials and support scheduling your legislative visits. Registration closes at 5:00pm on Wednesday, January 18th.
Hotel Accommodations The Association has reserved a block of rooms with the Courtyard Marriott Natomas in Sacramento at a $95 government rate.
