*A Blueprint for Building Better Sentences -- Let us show you how a sentence structure can be a playground! Learn new, innovative and appealing methods to teach sentence types with an easy-to-use
sentence structure format that can be a playground. Engage and excite students not only for writing practice but also for grammar and sentence revision with special emphasis on the importance of variety in all styles of writing.
*Using 6 Word Memoirs as a Critical Thinking Tool -- Yes, you can do it in 6 words! Learn how to use the six-word memoir to teach and sharpen core content area skills of summarizing, identifying themes, analyzing the VIPs, and more. An effective tool for assessment, the six-word memoir technique can be used across all subject areas. In this session, you will learn how this tool as a springboard for creative stories and reflective writing.
*Technology Tools for the Classroom! -- This hands-on session is designed to reach both the technologically savvy and technologically challenged. You will create, explore and learn technology that will support the Florida standards no matter what you teach. Best of all, you will learn to use free programs and apps, and how to research beyond Google! Bring your own device to get started immediately!
*Data Driven Reading -- Go through an exciting journey through close reading! See best practices for implementing a reading lesson for Social Studies, Science and English-- engaging critical thinking with non-fiction readings, utilizing online activities that connect learners with each other and authentic experiences, interactive note taking, and chunking content for manageable delivery. Easy to follow ways to assess comprehension and ready to use tool!
*The Power of Math for Deeper Thinking - Targeting math (and science) teachers at all grade levels, participants will gain further knowledge of new math standatds providing examples and opportunities for teachers to work together with math/literacy activities. Participants will dig deeper into mathematical practices and what adminstrators should be looking for when they visit classrooms. Collaboratively, participants will work together to unpack standards and look at new assessment resources to gain further understanding Florida requirements.
