MacLaren Society: The Mathematics of Beauty 

 

At Thomas MacLaren School, we believe that

all human beings can know truth, create beauty,

and practice goodness.

The MacLaren Society is dedicated to bringing this pursuit

to the broader Colorado Springs community through the lenses

of the humanities, the sciences, and the arts.

Join us for our next MacLaren Society event at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, in Berger Hall in the UCCS University Center.  Doors and cash bar open at 5:30 p.m.  

Hosted by the Mathematics Department at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, Ms. Katie Maslow, lead math teacher at Thomas MacLaren School, will present on the golden ratio and its relationship to beauty in both nature and the human experience.  

MacLaren Society events are for adults and Thomas MacLaren School upperclassmen, are FREE and Open to the Public.

Ms. Maslow graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Mathematics and History. She is an Academic Dean and the Lead Mathematics Teacher at Thomas MacLaren School, currently instructing students in Precalculus, Calculus, and Advanced Math Topics.
