Workshop Description:
Mindfulness is an attribute of consciousness long believed to promote insight and well-being. Mindfulness is a deceptively simple way of relating to experience that can reduce suffering (depression, anxiety, pain) and set the stage for positive personal transformation. The practice and teaching of mindfulness has been transforming the practice of psychology fo rsome time now. The practice of mindfulness is a central part of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Hakomi, and other therapeutic models and techniques. This class is for psychotherapists who either are new to the concept of mindfulness or those who want to refresh and extend their knowledge while also being given an opportunity to practice in this training. We will review definitions, instructions on how to be mindful, health benefits, and practice a few mindfulness exercises. Please join us.

Lisa Cottrell, LPC
Lisa Cottrell, LPC is an experienced psychotherapist who has studied
and practiced mindfulness and meditation fo rover 30 years. She is a student of renowned Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. Lisa has also studied with many other renowned teachers of mindfuolness, compassion and insight. She teaches mindfulness and meditation. She is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindful Meditation, and a variety of trauma therapies including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brain-spotting, and the Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy. She has more than 10 years experinece treating clients with the dueal diagnoses of addiction, trauma and other psychiatric disorders, including 9 years at Talbott Recovery.
