Welcome to the Scholars Leadership Summit!
Thank you for your participation as we prepare for our most important Promise Prize Scholar Summit in our 16 year history!

July 28 through July 30, 2017

YOUR REGISTRATION INCLUDES

  • A two night stay at the historic Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, DC. The Willard Hotel is located in th heart of downtown Washington DC. It offers various amenities and is within walking distance of many area attractions and monuments.   
  • Arrive Friday afternoon, check into your individual room, and catch up with other Scholars.
  • 2017 Scholars participate in orientation starting at 3pm on Friday.
  • Friday evening Diaspora Dinner at the Kenyan restaurant, Swahili Village, with African Ambassador guests
  • Saturday morning starts with a hearty breakfast and Scholar leadership meeting
  • All day tour of Washington DC historic sites, including the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, the Capitol, and stops at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, the White House (optional), and over 3 hours at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture 
  • Saturday evening Scholar debrief, dinner and activities - not to be missed!
  • We will conclude on Sunday with breakfast and community service event
  • We will be celebrating YOU and Marie Nesbitt's 100th birthday!
  • Departures at 11am Sunday
  • All meals and local transportation to the activities

Accommodations & Transportation: All Promise Prize Scholars are required to stay at the Willard Hotel; as it is a part of the Scholar Leadership experience. The registration fee includes the cost of staying overnight July 28 & 29, 2017, all meals and local transportation to and from activities.  

We will reserve your room once you have completed registration and paid your registration fee.

Scholars must  provide their own transportation to Washington, D.C.  Transportation is not included in the registration fee.  As we get closer to the event, we will contact you to collect your travel information.  Based upon response, we may coordinate a group pick up/drop off at  Ronald Regan Washington National AirportIf traveling by train, take Amtrak to Union Station, Washington DC.  

Participation:  All participants will receive a Leadership Development Certificate, and attendance at all events is required.

Please Register NOW - this helps our planning process. To reserve your place at the 2017 Scholar Experience Summit, register now. If you are a Scholar who does not have a scholarship for the registration you must pay the registration fee on $199 in full no later than April 17, 2017. If you have questions, do not hesitate to call the office at (914) 481-5914.

Accommodations: All Promise Prize  and Summit Scholars are required to stay at the Doral Arrowwood; it is a part of theScholar Retreat. All fees paid will include the cost of staying overnight July 29-30, 2016, all meals and transportation to and from activities. We will reserve your room once you have completed registration.

Participation:  To reserve your place at the Annual Tribute and/or Summit, make your initial payment or pay in full.  This is required  whether you attend one or both of the Annual Weekend events. 

Last date to register and pay in full June 1, 2016. Latest date to cancel without penalty, June 15, 2016.

Casual Business Attire: This includes slacks, shirts, skirts and dresses.  Avoid athletic clothing, caps, sneakers, flip flops, tight fitting clothing, shorts, and t-shirts.

Scholar Leadership Activites and Debrief      

Comfortable Walking Attire:  Use good judgment in respecting the sites visited while dressing appropriately for a long challenging day. Good walking shoes are a must.  Avoid athletic attire, shorts, tee shirts, and tight fitting clothing.

Guests:  All Scholars are welcome to invite one guest, at the Family Discount of $200 per person.  All guests must be at least 18 years old.  Should both your parents wish to attend, we will have a waiting list because we have a limited number of seats.  After April 28, once we know how many registrations we have, we will open the waiting list.  Your guest fee includes dinner on Friday, Saturday tour from 10:30am to 5:30pm, and breakfast on Sunday.  Local transportation to the dinner on Friday and Saturday tour are included. All other activities are exclusively for current and Alumni Promise Prize Scholars. 

Refunds:  All payments are due in full by April 28, 2017. Fees are non-refundable after May 7, 2017.
