Would your organization accept a gift of $500,000 from an escort service? How about a time from a new board member?
Gift acceptance policies provide important protection for a nonprofit. Not every gift is right for your organization and saying "no" can be difficult for both the nonprofit and the potential donor.
This interactive workshop, a partnership of the Southwest Florida Planned Giving Council and the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, is designed for board members, executive directors/CEOs and development directors.
Role playing exercises and case studies will provide a review of basic components of gift acceptance policies, an understanding of how such policies help both the nonprofit and donors, and tools for creating a policy to fit your organization.
Presenters: Richard Gans, Shareholder at Fergeson, Skipper, Shaw, Keyser, Baron & Tirabassi, P.A.; Julie Lyman, Vice President of Donor Engagement at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County; and Martha Wells, Development Director at the South Florida Museum
There is no cost to register for this workshop, but your organization must have a profile in The Giving Partner or be a member of the Southwest Florida Planned Giving Council. Continental breakfast sponsored by Horizon Wealth Advisors.
