Brooklyn Metro Chamber Orchestra returns to Fort Hamilton Army Base to present "An Orchestral Tribute at the Fort" Friday, July 13, 2018, at 8 PM.
Last year over three hundred active service men and women, our veterans, their family, and friends were treated to Brooklyn's premiere orchestra performing patriotic and classic musical selections. This year artistic director and conductor Philip Nuzzo has chosen a Brooklyn centric program that is sure to please.
The music of Brooklyn-born composer Aaron Copland is center stage. Christopher Bush, the principal clarinet of the BMCO plays Copland's timeless Clarinet Concerto. Brooklyn resident by way of Boise, Idaho soprano Melody English makes her New York debut in Copland's beautiful Eight Songs with text by Emily Dickinson.
Our second Brooklyn-born composer George Gershwinis featured in his spectacular piece Rhapsody in Blue. Internationally renowned pianist Anita Chen will perform this great bridge from classical to jazz.
Finally, one of the city's finest choral ensembles, The Communion and Liberation Choir directed by Christopher Vath will join Maestro Nuzzo and the BMCO to sing American favorites.
