IMSS District Lesson Study Teams 2014-2015

Lesson study provides opportunities for teachers to engage in the cycle of inquiry, observe and analyze student thinking and make data-driven decisions. Through lesson study, teachers have reported improved Science inquiry pedagogy, greater teacher collaboration, and deeper understanding of students' thinking during instruction. Join a district- based lesson study team to experiment with the instructional and content shifts required of teachers and students by NGSS and CCSS.

Expectations:

Attend Lesson Study Launch (Tentatively Saturday 9/6/14 @ 9am-1pm)
Attend monthly lesson study team meetings (approx. 90 min per month or an equivalent of 12-15 hours). **Meeting locations and times will be determined by group members.
Present Lesson study findings to other teachers in district.
Teach the research lesson to your classes.
Do 2 observation cylces of the research lesson. (Cost of two release days covered by IMSS)
Administer research survey & concept inventory to 1 class period.
Receive $400 stipend after completion of the lesson study.

A minimum of 3 teachers per grade level in a district (including the facilitator) is needed to form a Lesson Study Team.
