Academic Associate at the Centre of Genomics and Policy (CGP) at McGill University who will discuss the need for federal and provincial laws to ban genetic discrimination in insurance and other activities.

Komudi Siriwardena, MBChB, FRACP, FCCMG  
Associate Professor at the University of Alberta's Department of Medical Genetics who will discuss "PKU in 2017: Old Disease, New Tricks" together with Dr. Sparkes.

Rebecca Sparkes, MD, FRCPC, FCCMG 
Dr. Rebecca Sparkes is a clinical geneticist specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) at Alberta Children's Hospital. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medical Genetics and Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. In addition to a wide variety of other IMDs, she currently follows 80 paediatric and adult patients with phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) deficiency, including phenylketonuria (PKU). Her interests include long-term follow-up of IMDs diagnosed through universal newborn screening, and advancing the knowledge of new treatment options for patients with IMDs, including PKU. Dr. Sparkes will discuss "PKU in 2017: Old Disease, New Tricks" together with Dr. Siriwardena.

As usual we will provide on-site childcare at no additional charge for registered children 12 and under, have several metabolic vendors present with samples, and we will provide PKU-friendly snacks and lunch.
