Do you visit your client’s homes? Do you know how to keep yourself and your client safe during your visit? One in four workers will be attacked, harassed, or threatened on the job, yet workplace violence is preventable, even when you are on their turf. And just when you thought home visits couldn’t become more challenging Covid arrived. This workshop will present both organizational and individual strategies that can be implemented to help keep workers safe while visiting clients and will highlight precautions that need to be taken to avoid exposure to communicable diseases such as flu, RSV and Covid. Come prepared to tell of your own experiences. Leave knowing how to escape dangerous situations and contagions unscathed.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this webinar participants will be able to: • Assess their work environment for unsafe conditions through the use of threat assessment guidelines. • Detect 14 warning signs of impending violence. • Identify and counteract safety threats while visiting clients in their homes and neighborhoods. • Make careful preparation for home visits and assure they are properly equipped to stay safe in the home and community. Use communicable disease precautions such as masks, gowns, and gloves effectively to avoid catching and/or spreading communicable disease such as Covid, RSV and seasonal flu.

Marcella Balin she is a well known and highly regarded educator and presenter.  She is an independent nurse entrepreneur and lecturer with over 38 years of experience.  She began her nursing career in Brooklyn, NY and spent a decade moving into the field of education.  She par- layed years of widely varied teaching experience into a career of independent teaching and presenting.Her BSN is from Wright State University in Dayton Ohio, and she brings years of ongoing professional education in human and organizational development to her workshops.  Her energetic schedule includes developing and presenting a rich variety of educational programs for professionals, teachers, corporate personnel, and private group0s.  She has worked with Health Care professionals for 38 years.  She spent many years working with ASET (Abused Substance Education Training) and educated many in this subject Area.
