Isolation has always been an issue for seniors but since the onset of the Covid pandemic the impact of social isolation has been devasting to our elderly population in Ohio. Research shows that isolation leads to dietary problems, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, chronic depression, onset of “brain fog”, self-neglect and a host of other maladies in those over 60. Attend to discuss the impact of chronic loneliness, isolation and idleness in the elderly and learn recommended interventions to help isolated seniors get back to more active lives again.
Rita Rizzo is the Principal of Rizzo & Associates LLC, an Ohio based consulting and training firm established in 1984. She holds a Master’s Degree in Training and Human Resource Management from the University of Leicester in Leicester, England, and received her undergraduate education in the fields of psychology and nursing. She is also a certified conflict mediator and the author of 12 books and over 250 articles about personal and professional development.
