Working with Very Different Generations

Wednesday, September 11, 2019

Description

The younger generation complains the older people "just don't understand; they're out of touch!" The older generation laments the young's "think they know everything and have little respect for the elders. At the heart of all of this is the fact that each decade of our life experience is vastly different than the previous ones, and we are shaped by the "times" we grow up in. This seminar will look at some of the major differences of each generation. They will also learn what researchers say about how each generation learns and participates in work activities. Then they will have an open discussion with other participants about what they think of the seminar content.

Objectives

  1. Discuss the various generations and plusses and minuses of each
  2. Distinguish the similarities and differences among client's learning processes and occupational differences
  3. Work individually to investigate what generational stereotypes they see in society
  4. Utilize collaborative learning to recognize five positive qualities for each generation
  5. Summarize generational content and new insights learned; apply new learning to their client's lives.
