GRIEF AND DEPRESSION

DESCRIPTION

In the midst of loss and grief, many clients are prescribed an anti-depressant to cope.  When is it sadness and grief and when is it clinical depression?  In this workshop, participants will discuss the differences between grief/sadness and help to distinguish between these two phenomenon.

OBJECTIVES

During this workshop, participants will:

• Discuss and define the terms involved in grief
• Understand the depression epidemic
• Discuss and identify the differences between sadness/grief and depression
• Discuss the signs that further help is needed and when to refer to get further help with depression

PRESENTER:  MATT WILLIAMS, M.A., PCC-S

Matt works for Lakeshore Educational & Counseling Services delivering trainings to community, professional, and corporate audiences.  He is the Executive Director of Moriah Counseling and Consulting, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with the State of Ohio, and a certified clinical supervisor.  He has an undergraduate degree in Christian Education from Ashland University and a graduate degree in Clinical Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary.  Matt is also an ordained minister and has nearly 25 years experience in pastoral ministry, counseling, and teaching.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Lakeshore Educational & Counseling Services L.L.C. is an approved provider for the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.  This program has been approved for social workers (#RSX060601) and counselors (Provider #RCX030701) for 3.0 clock hours.  The Ohio Nursing Board accepts programs approved by another state regulatory board.  BELTSS approved #042-L-17.

REGISTRATION AND REFUNDS

The deadline for registration is June 15, 2017.  Registration is not complete without payment or invoice information.  Late registrations are accepted if space is available and will include a $10 late fee.  A refund will be made ONLY for cancellations received five work days prior to the training.  If cancellation is received less than five days prior to the training within the next year.  If notice of cancellation is not received before the date of training, no refund will be issued.  PLEASE NOTE:  No shows will be charged the full registration fee.
