Celebrate Baseball

      Attend the opening of our new exhibit, Béisbol: Tampa's Love of the Game.  Celebrate  the

      125-year history of Tampa's infatuation wi th baseball. Experience the rich history of the Inter-Social, 
       Municipal, Cigar City and Negro Leagues, as well as memorabilia and stories about baseball
       greats such as Al Lopez, Tony LaRussa, Lou Piniella and Tino Martinez.. Learn now professional and 
       semi-professional players were trained in Tampa's rich Little League, high school and college
       baseball traditions.   

     Watch the playoffs on large screen as you enjoy baseball-inspired food and music,
     beer and wine, DJ,
surprise guests, pitching  speed  contest,
activities with prizes, and more. 
       Wear your favorite team apparel and bring friends and family for this fun evening.

       Hillsborough County Commission Chair Ken Hagan and City Council Chair Charlie Miranda will help
       begin the festivities with brief presentations and a ribbon cutting. Both  have notable baseball
       careers. Commissioner Hagan played for Chamberlain High School, Hillsborough Community College
       and the University of Florida and takes pride in coaching his son's Little League team. Councilman
       Miranda played for the Tampa Smokers and was a member of the Cuscaden Park all-stars, where he
       played with retired Cincinnati Reds Coach. Tony LaRussa, during their youth. Miranda took members
       of the same team to Cuba in 2011 for a rematch - 57 years after a series was played in Cuban against
       some of the nation's top youth players.

                                                                      KIDS AND FAMILY DAY
   Bring the kids, grandkids, neices and nephews in their favorite team garb to Kids and Family Day on  
   Saturday,
October, 20th, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tickets are $10 and include ballpark lunch, museum entrance, 
   pitching contest and games with prizes. The USF Bulls baseball team will be on hand to sign autographs.
