StorySki 2022 at Mad River Glen Ski Area

Dear Friends of Stark Mountain,

The Stark Mountain Foundation will be sponsoring the 4th Annual StorySki at Mad River Glen Ski Area on Saturday February 26, 2022 from 10:30 to 2:30.  There will be a raffle associated with the StorySki featuring prizes from Vermont businesses including Bridgeside Books, The Collection, The Flying Pig Bookstore, the Mad River Taste Place, Tempest Books and Vermont Teddy Bear.

Pre Registration for the event is strongly encourged.  The event is free, but you will need a lift ticket to participate.  Check-in begins at 10.30AM at the Kent Thomas Nature Center at the junction of the Snail and the Slalom Hill.

Register for StorySkiThe StorySki is open to skiers age 3 to 10 and will take place on the skier's right of Lower Panther, just below the Slalom Hill.  Check-in and day-of registration will take place at the Nature Center beginning at 10:30AM.  The StorySki panels will be in place at Mad River Glen from February 19 through March 5 and can be enjoyed by all ages.

The StorySki is based on the idea of the StoryWalk, a project that originated in Montpelier at the Kellogg-Hubbard library and has spread throughout the world. Laminated pages from a children's book are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you're directed to the next page in the story. It was created as a way for children to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time.

This year's StorySki will feature "After the Snowfall", a picture book written and richly illustrated by Rich Lo and published by Muddy Boots Books.  The book, which introduces children to the wonders of nature in winter, is about a fox and the many other creatures he encounters on the way to the stream.
