Managing Lust in Couples Therapy

Lust, one of seven primitive brain states, is as integral to the development of couple intimacy as it is often discomfiting to clinicians and our clients themselves. In this two hour workshop, Bonnie Macbride, Phyllis Vince, and Tim West will offer the perspectives of Systems Centered Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method on how to overcome discomfiture, increase client potency, and use the couple’s lust to bring the partners closer together. After the presenters offer an overview of their respective approaches, they’ll examine actual cases raised by audience members (who are encouraged to be prepared to discuss them) as well as their own.
